Working Well with Others, David Mantica, VP and General Manager of SoftEd

Presenter: David Mantica, VP and General Manager of SoftEd

Description:

Our brains have not evolved to match the needs of knowledge work environments. In many cases, the natural reaction your brain has to issues in business goes completely counter to what you should/need to do. Aside from this, no one trains or teaches on this subject. We brush it under the rug and just assume we will adapt, or worse yet, assume it really isn’t a problem.

The reality is the problem is epidemic, and shows up in the staggering increases in stress-related illness and death, and the exceedingly high level of disengaged workers. It is staggering to see the number of business professionals who don’t even know what self-talk is and the dangers its produces if left unchecked.

Learning objectives:

In this session we'll get into the very heart of how dysfunctional our brain is when operating in normal business environments. The areas that will be covered included:

  • The physiology of emotional intelligence
  • Affective forecasting and its impact on decision making
  • Cognitive biases and its impact on day-to-day business interaction
  • Neuroplasticity and change management. How hard it is to change
  • Your lazy brain, how stereotypes and decision patterns are developed
  • Self-talk and stress
